Investigator Mike Leutert heads the Environmental Enforcement Unit for the Montgomery
County Sheriff’s Office. He is in charge of all calls that fall within the scope
of our environment such as illegal dumping, littering, spills, tarp violations,
burn laws, illegal junkyards and any other calls that may detrimentally impact the
environment.
He takes calls in both the city limits as well as the county. He is in charge of
educating the public about these problems through different means and enforcing
the laws concerning them. His efforts have contributed to the clean up of hundreds
of illegal dumping sites throughout the county.
In the year 2004 he responded to 346 complaints in both the county and city, and
worked 267 investigations which where cleared or are still ongoing. He is the only
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy that's not funded with tax dollars. The Bi-County
Landfill, a self sufficient agency, through users, supports this position 100%.
