The Criminal Investigation Division is a multi-faceted operation. It is divided into five separate units.
General Investigations Unit
The General Investigation Unit is responsible for investigating crimes against people
and property.
Some of the crimes against people the unit investigates are non-domestic related
violent crimes such as Aggravated Assaults, Robberies, Kidnappings and current and
cold-case Homicides. Property crimes
include offenses such as Aggravated Burglary, Theft, Vandalism, Embezzlement and
Fraud.

Juvenile/Crimes against Children Unit
The Juvenile/Crimes against Children Unit is responsible for the investigation of
crimes against children, crimes involving juvenile suspects and victims. Some examples
of these investigations are Child Abuse/Neglect, Child Sex Abuse, Missing/Abducted
Children and any crime that might possibly involve juvenile suspects or victims. In addition, the Juvenile/Crimes against
Children Unit prepare Juvenile Petitions for delinquent and/or unruly juveniles,
to be issued by the
Juvenile Court of Montgomery County
