Tennessee Emergency Notification System (TENS)

As part of our preparedness program we have installed the Tennessee Emergency Notification System (TENS). This is an automatic calling system which is housed in Montgomery County’s E-911Center. This system gives local agencies the capability to alert local citizens by telephone of disasters and other emergencies and to advise them of any actions which may need to be taken. This system will call only those numbers which may be found in the local phone directory. Cell phone and private numbers must be entered by the owner of the phone at the TENS Info & Signup web page to receive this service.

The National Weather Service, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency and other supporting organizations are working together to help in providing the public with information about severe weather safety. Advance planning and increased awareness will help Tennesseans survive these deadly storms.
