Course Description
An Introduction to the Emergency Medical Field, with an area of study concentrating on providing basic first aid, CPR, AED, bandaging, splinting, basic airway management, oxygen administration, basic human anatomy and physiology, emergency obstetrics, environmental emergencies, EMS operations and medical and trauma patient assessment.
Goals
- Successful completion of Course Studies
- Successful completion of Course Quizzes, Tests, and Finals
- Appropriately and Effectively complete all requires skills
- Successful completion of the National Registry First Responder Certification Exam
Co-Requisite
American Heart Association – Health Care Provider Course Completion Card or American Red Cross – Professional Rescuer Course Completion Card.
Skills Evaluations
All skills shall be completed to the instructor’s satisfaction and according to the state of Tennessee and National Registry regulations. Successful completion of your skills is mandatory prior to being eligible to sit for your certification exam.
Teaching Methods
Teaching will be via Lecture, discussion, reading assignments, audio visuals, and practical demonstration.
