Vision and Core Values of Information Systems

The Vision of IS:

Montgomery County will apply information technology in a manner that elevates the level of productivity and efficiency to the highest extent possible. The proper application of technology will improve individual productivity, improve the quality and timeliness of work outputs, and provide County staff with an enhanced quality of life by automating and simplifying many processes and tasks. IS will further develop an environment and culture in which Elected officials, directors and their staff look upon technology as an effective tool for supporting the daily activities as well as the critical business functions within Montgomery County.

The Core Values of IS:

will reflect the core values of Montgomery County which include respect, excellence, responsiveness, forward-thinking, progressive, quality of life, integrity, honorable...we want to do the right thing. In adhering to these values we will:

• Focus on customer service so that user satisfaction becomes a primary objective and that, no matter the outcome, the user is satisfied with the effort.

• Exist to serve the needs of the user to the extent that the needs of the County drive all technology projects.

• Question the current processes, procedures, and policies that stand in the way of accomplishing the business objectives.

• Present options to executive leadership when policy constraints limit the ability to complete business goals.

• Place user needs above other activities such as projects and maintenance. The user’s emergency is our emergency.

• Encourage self learning, creativity, leadership, and team-building within the IS Department so that we may present a united effort in accomplishing our set goals and objectives.
