MAYOR CAROLYN P. BOWERS

Welcome to Montgomery County. Montgomery County has grown from a small, agricultural community into a strong blend of residential, commercial, and corporate citizens. One of our goals is to foster community cooperation, innovation, and opportunity by providing quality services to county residents and businesses in an efficient, effective and economical manner.

About the Mayor

Mayor Bowers is married and has two children and two grandchildren. She is a native of Montgomery County with a long history of community involvement and has received numerous community and governmental awards. She received her B. S. and M. A. degrees from Austin Peay State University.

Prior to becoming Mayor of Montgomery County, Mayor Bowers served two terms as County Trustee. As Trustee, she earned twenty million dollars through prudent investment of idle county funds. Mayor Bowers has utilized integrated accounting for all County departments by implementation of the MUNIS® system. MUNIS® integrates the mass of county accounting data making it possible to continuously monitor the budget and maximize efficiency for all users.

Mayor Bowers is expanding the use of MUNIS® to integrate a strategic planning program into the budget process. This will ensure that the budget is driven by focused planning.
