Montgomery County Conservation Board


Authority:

TCA 11-21-101 et seq., and resolution of the Montgomery County Quarterly Court at its April 1965 term.

Purpose:

To dedicate and set apart or acquire or lease lands or buildings, or both, for use as playgrounds, recreation centers and other recreational purposes, including the preservation for the enjoyment and recreation of the citizens of historical sites; and to provide, establish, maintain, and conduct supervised recreation, including playgrounds, recreation centers, and other recreational activities and facilities.

Membership:

Five (5) members appointed by the County Mayor with the approval of the Board of County Commissioners. At least two of the five members shall be appointed from among the membership of the Board of County Commissioners.

Current Board Members include:

  • Chairman - John Bartee
  • Commissioner Benny Skinner
  • Commissioner Jerry Allbert
  • Betty Barnett
  • Steve Joiner

Terms:

Five (5) years, on a staggered basis, appointments to be made at the April term. The term of at least one member will expire each year. No member will be eligible to immediate succession after having served on full five-year term.

Meetings:

Quarterly, and at the call of the chairmen or majority of members of the board.
