Facilities

Montgomery County Parks and Recreation (MCPR) currently administers two athletic complexes in St. Bethlehem/Civitan Park and Woodlawn Park.  Also overseen by the department are two community centers, South Guthrie and Cumberland Heights, and a 100-acre natural area, Rotary Park.

St. Bethlehem/Civitan Park is located on Bellamy Lane approximately 1/2 mile off of 101st Airborne Parkway.  It is comprised of both youth and adult ballfields, several picnic pavilions and open green space for passive recreation.

Woodlawn Park is a community park located on Woodlawn Park Road at the northwest part of the county.  It includes adult and youth ballfields, hiking/ horse trails, small playground, tennis courts, basketball court, picnic pavilions and open green space for passive recreation.

South Guthrie Community Center is a small community center serving the residents of the South Guthrie area, located approximately five miles north of Governor's Square Mall.  Housing a small library, several computers.

Cumberland Heights Community Center Opened in November 2000, this vacated school gymnasium was given to the county parks system for renovation and utilization.  Hard work and lots of volunteer elbow grease resulted in an incredible interior restoration.  From the rare wood parquet floor to the community murals painted by local high school artists, this facility is a true asset to Montgomery County.  Currently, it is available on a fee-based reservation system.
Fee = $25.00 per hour
$100 deposit for key.

Rotary Park, called "the best kept secret in Clarksville" in a recent book on biking trails, is a 100-acre nature park located on Rotary Drive, near the Sango area of Montgomery County.  It is easily accessible one block southeast of the Highway 76/Highway 41 intersection.  Boasting over five miles of hiking/biking trails, one large pavilion, two small pavilions, a large ADA-accessible playground (new for 2000), bathroom facilities and a public amphitheatre, this premiere recreational facility is the jewel of the Montgomery County Parks and Recreation system. Download an application to reserve a pavilion. For more information on Rotary Park go to: http://friendsofrotarypark.blogspot.com

Programs

Youth Athletics

Both Woodlawn Park and St. Bethlehem/ Civitan Park offer youth Little League baseball and softball programs.  For more information or to sign up for league play, contact Woodlawn Little League at (931) 647-1977 or St. B/ Civitan Little League at www.stbll.org.

Public Playgrounds

Woodlawn Park contains a small playground that may be accessed on a daily basis.  Rotary Park maintains a state-of-the-art ADA accessible playground designed to accommodate approximately 80 children of varying ages.  ADA-specific components are included as is separate play areas for kids ages 2-5 and 5-12.  South Guthrie Community Center has a 35-child capacity playground built in June 2000.  Woodlawn and Rotary both have convenient benches for parents to sit and relax while maintaining a wary eye on the children.

Hiking/Biking

Rotary Park maintains over five miles of hiking and biking trails for your enjoyment.  Terrain ranges from mostly flat and leisurely to fairly steep and rugged.  Future plans call for an ADA accessible 1/2 mile boardwalk to be constructed by the year 2002.  This trail will wind along Wall Branch (the small creek that meanders through Rotary Park) and will end in a quaint picnic area alongside the stream.  Horses are permitted on most of the trails although owners are expected to "curb" their animals so as not to disturb the enjoyment of other recreational users.  Motorized vehicles are NOT ALLOWED off pavement and violators will be assessed fines.  As mentioned previously, David Moore, author of Tennessee Mountain Bike Adventures, declared Rotary Park "the best kept secret in Clarksville"!  Woodlawn Park maintains a smaller amount of trails, which are open to hiking, biking and horse travel.  The trail system at Woodlawn is more primitive in nature although the same sense of adventure can be had by a short drive!

Picnicking

St. Bethlehem/Civitan Park, Rotary Park, Woodlawn Park and South Guthrie Community Center all maintain areas to picnic, lunch or plan a major family gathering!  Picnic tables are abundant at all facilities and all but South Guthrie have separate picnic pavilions available on a rental basis.

Youth sports are just the beginning!
