Disabled veterans and widows of disabled veterans have an
opportunity Saturday morning to apply for tax relief at one office —
the Montgomery County Trustee's Office — from 9 a.m. to noon.
Residents within city limits would normally have to file their
paperwork at the County Trustee's Office as well as the Clarksville
Finance and Revenue Office. "Saturday would be the best way to
streamline the process," County Trustee Brenda Radford said.
Eligible veterans and widows
must have a VA rating of permanent and total service-connected
disability.
"I do not think many of the disabled veteran widow(ers) know of
this significant benefit and I hope ... many more disabled veteran
widow(ers) will apply and qualify for their well-deserved property
tax relief," Radford said in a prepared statement.
Widows also can qualify for tax relief if their spouse's death
was service connected, combat related or if they received a total
and permanent disability rating from being a prisoner of war,
according to a media statement from the trustee's office.
