The sales tax revenue numbers were very close for October, with $3.479 million collected last year and $3.476 million for 2007.
September of 2007 had $3.9 million in sales tax collected and in 2008 the amount was $ 3.61 million.
All sales tax collected from purchases in the city and county is sent to the state. The portion from the local option sales tax — 2.5 percent — is returned to Montgomery County, where it is distributed to the city and the school system.
